THOUGHT/QUOTE
OF THE WEEK:
We
must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference,
ignore the small daily differences we can make
which, over time, "
add up to big
differences that we often cannot foresee.
– Marian Wright Edelman |

The Fourth Object of Kiwanis: To
develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and
serviceable citizenship.
Kiwanis Education
#72:
The Kiwanis general
liability insurance covers fund-raising and service activities involving
the public as well as club activities confined to the membership. Because
a high percentage of public liability exposure is the result of a club’s
fund-raising and service activities, clubs are permitted to allocate from
revenue of fund-raising projects, as a legitimate expense, all premium
charges over and above a basic sum of 25 cents (US) per member per year.
The 25 cents must be paid from the club’s administrative account.

THIS WEEK:
Greetings, fellow Kiwanians. We
had a great meeting at the St. Martin Parish Library (and that’s where
we’ll be again this week). The reason for the move is because there were
auditors in the conference room at the Sheriff’s Office. We should be
back in our regular meeting room next week. Mike Formeller, President of
the Friends of the Library, was our guest speaker. Mike encouraged
membership and told us how the Friends help support the library with
things that they couldn’t do on their own. Mike also filled out an
application for membership with Kiwanis and was approved on Thursday at
the board meeting.
Reminder that we are in need of a
President, President-elect, and a bulletin co-editor. As of the end of
this month, our club will be leaderless unless someone decides to step up
to the plate and pitch-hit. At that time, you will probably cease to get
a bulletin if no one chooses to help with this, too. The bulletin is a
three person committee, each of us doing a part of it each week. Peggy
emails the bulletin to me with the information on the left side filled
in. I write the news of the week, send it back to Peggy and on to Marti.
Marti posts it on the web and Peggy mails it to those who do not have
email. Perhaps the office of president could be a joint effort if no one
is willing to make a total commitment. Co-presidents may work for us!!!
Think about it.
At our board meeting/Pepper Festival
committee meeting on Thursday evening, the board conducted the business of
the club, including finances and housekeeping. The festival committee
continues to fine tune our festival activities.
