THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
  S
teer clear of anyone who values cleverness above dependability,
     expedience above integrity,
and charm above character. – William Arthur Ward

The First Object of Kiwanis: To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.

Kiwanis Education #30: Key Club International is Kiwanis’ oldest continuing youth-service program. The first Key Club “for key boys” was organized by the Kiwanis Club of Sacramento, California, in 1925. The concept of a service club for high school students spread to other Kiwanis clubs, and Key Club became an official program of Kiwanis International by 1942. Today, more than 200,000 young men and women belong to Key Clubs in more than 4,500 high schools throughout the US, Canada, and a growing number of other nations. Key Club International is run largely by its members, who conduct conventions and elect officers each year at the district and International levels.

THIS WEEK:

Our Installation Banquet was AWESOME!  Great attendance, lively bidding on silent auction items, good bartending and EXCELLENT food.  Our compliments to all who worked so hard in preparing, manning and conducting our banquet.  Congratulations to Larry Roy and his team for a great job leading our club this past year.  Special thanks to our Lt. Governor, Christine Berard, for retiring and inducting board members and officers.  Thanks to her “roadie” Steve Comeaux for bringing equipment and setup!

Congrats to newly elected President Margaret Richard and her TEAM!  Margaret is encouraging all of us to grow our club and she leads by example.  I think she has 6 new members already lined up to join.  One of Margaret’s themes for this 20th anniversary of our club is “coming home” (getting past members to rejoin or even current “absent” members to get active).

And her focus this year:  ‘IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CHILDREN.’  Please remember that as you consider how you can serve your community as a Kiwanian.

Did you get the message?  The festival is fast approaching and we are ALL needed to make this thing work.  Sign up sheets will be at the meeting this coming week but if you cannot attend the meeting, please call Steve or Christine to volunteer.  We will need help setting up, at the gates, helping with the Children’s games, in the coke booth, etc.  (You get my drift.)  Jean is taking tee shirt orders (394-9734) and today (Friday) is her deadline to order shirts with Kiwanis logo on it.  Please call her asap.
