THIS WEEK:
PLEASE NOTE THE
TIME CHANGE FOR OUR EVENING MEETING NEXT WEEK.
Great meeting this week with lots of gambling and fingers crossed. Leslie
Thibodeaux was the lucky lottery winner of $118. Congrats to you, Leslie.
Lt. Gov. Christine thanked everyone who attended the Governors Visit in
Lafayette this Tuesday and also the opening of Parc Independence.
The Dictionary Project is really taking off thanks to newest member (just
voted in) Elmer Landry. The dictionaries will be distributed by Elmer,
Guy Cormier, Elaine St. Julien. As Parish President, Guy will also
proclaim November 5 as Dictionary Day. Along with the proclamation, Guy
and Elmer will be at SM Jr. High to present dictionaries and Channel 10
will be covering this event. FYI PRESIDENT MARGARET SAYS THAT ELMER
WILL BE ON CHANNEL 10 BETWEEN 6 AND 7 AM THIS SATURDAY TO DISCUSS THE
DICTIONARY PROJECT. TUNE IN!!!
President Margaret is continuing to assist the Jr. High Builders Club with
their formation meetings. She also shared that she is having so much fun
being President of Kiwanis. Bold statement to make, Margaret! But as a
former President, I agree, it is a fun thing.
Our guest speaker this week was Suzanne Laviolette from the
Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site. Suzanne invited us to attend
the Craft Fair at Longfellow this Saturday from 9-5. There will be face
painting for the kids, candy give away, crafts to see. Admission is $4
which includes the park tour. Adults 62 and children get in free. |
