THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character.
But if you must be without one, be without the strategy.
                              ~ Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf

The First Object of Kiwanis: To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.

Kiwanis Education #37: Kiwanis International’s continuing service focus is called “Young Children: Priority One.” The Priority One Advisory Council is a group of more than 30 child-related organizations that advise Kiwanis on the Young Children: Priority One program and offer local partners to clubs for collaborative projects.

THIS WEEK:

It was evenin’ meetin’ this week.  We had a lively group at the meeting this week with lots of discussion going on.
Please note that both the evening meeting and the board meeting times have been changed to 6:15.

President Margaret has been busy promoting Kiwanis to anyone who’ll listen and (not even inducted) new member Elmer Landry has been busy promoting and distributing dictionaries in conjunction with our newest Kiwanis/Rotary project – dictionaries for kids.  The dictionaries will be presented to SMJH and Trinity Catholic on November 5 with Channel 10 on hand at Jr. High.

We ALL need to recapture our zeal for the best service organization in the world.  Let’s be Kiwanis’ best cheerleaders.

Jean Potier announced a profit of $11,000 plus for our Pepper Festival this year.  As soon as everything is finalized, we will have a wrap meeting for the festival.  Be watching for the date in your bulletin.  Great Job, Jean, Steve and Christine!!!!!!!!

Next week please make every effort to attend the meeting.  We will be inducting our first new member under President Margaret’s term.  Elmer Landry will be inducted at this time.  Elmer, please invite Lisa to attend our meeting and be with you for your induction.

In the near future, Jonah Cormier – Guy’s son, will be our guest speaker and tell us about his passion for racing.  Do you have anyone you think would be an interesting guest speaker?  Let us hear from you.

Congrats to Kiwanian Edna Landry (and poor Al) on the election of her son, Jeff Landry, to the U. S. Congress.  You must be proud!
