THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Three daily reminders:
Have courage to say no, have the courage to face the truth,
and have the courage to do the right thing because it is right.
                          ~ Mark Twain

The Second Object of Kiwanis: To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

Kiwanis Education #40: Each Kiwanis club in good standing is entitled to two voting delegates to each International convention and three voting delegates, two of whom must be the club president and president-designate, to each district convention. An alternate for each delegate also may be elected and will assume the delegate’s duties if the delegate is unable to serve.

THIS WEEK:

    IN MEMORIAM

Rosianne  "Annie" Angelle Durand

July 25, 1945 - November 23, 2010

This week’s meeting was a reflection of the Kiwanis life of Annie Durand.
Annie left our presence Tuesday morning, getting ready to attend an ARC luncheon.  At the meeting this morning, people shared their memories of Annie.  Everyone said she did like to argue the point, but that’s what kept us stimulated and excited about Kiwanis.  People knew that Annie loved getting ready for the Foster Children Christmas Party and buying the gifts – those of us who knew her well, knew that she would have had a houseful herself if it had been God’s plan.  Annie was a meticulous record keeper and as such, a good secretary for our club – she loved Kiwanis and the part she played in the club’s operation.  She will be missed by all who knew her.  Our deepest sympathies to her husband Ed and her son Howard.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pellerin Funeral Home and are as follows:  Wake on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday morning 7:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. To view her obituary and sign the guestbook, click here to visit the Pellerin website.

Also at the meeting this week, it was brought up that Annie had big shoes to be filled.  We will need a secretary and we’ll need to complete her Foster Children Project.  If you can help with either of these two things, please let Margaret know.

We briefly discussed the board/Pepper Festival Wrap meeting and announced that we netted over $12,700.00 this year.  Congrats to Steve and Christine (and Jean) for a job well done!

George Choplin was our guest this week, coming to promote the KC Christmas Parade on Dec. 12

Another special guest this morning was Kevin Comeaux, grandson of Steve Comeaux.  Kevin won $14.50 in the lottery this morning.
