THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing
in the right place, but to leave unsaid the wrong thing
                 at the tempting moment.  —Unknown

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #61:  Kiwanis Asia-Pacific is composed of the seven districts and nondistricted areas of Asia and the Western Pacific: the Japan, Korea, Republic of China, Philippine Luzon, Philippine South, New Zealand-South Pacific, and Australia districts, the Malaysia district in formation, and areas from Sri Lanka to Tahiti. Kiwanis Asia-Pacific has 700 clubs and conducts an annual conference to elect regional officers and promote Kiwanis goals and training.

THIS WEEK:   Lots going on so I will be brief.

St. Martinville Chamber Banquet on May 12 at WOW.  Contact Jean Potier if you’re interested in attending.  Our club is in the running for civic organization of the year.  $35 per person. The Chamber is honoring the members of the Armed Forces, both present and past.  Our own Kiwanians Ben Breaux, Jim Robb, Dan Berard and Steve Comeaux have the thanks and appreciation of all of us for their service to our country.  Thank you, guys!

Margaret and Lt. Gov. Christine encouraged everyone to recruit members.  Look around at your neighbors and friends.  Ask.  Then Ask Again!

Election of officers will be this month.  The nominating committee consists of Doug Melancon, Christine Berard, Dennis LeBlanc and Gerry LeBlanc.  If you are interested in being an officer or director, please contact one of the above.

Congrats again to new members Tim Dzindzio (dee-zin-zee-oh) and Bryan Staton.

Every Child A Swimmer is fast approaching and Christine will need assistance with several things.  She needs volunteers to help at the pool, to pick up ice daily, to pick up Subway sandwiches daily, to purchase oranges and cookies for daily consumption and perhaps a few other things.  CAN YOU VOLUNTEER ONE DAY OR CAN YOU PURCHASE ITEMS AHEAD OF TIME?  Call Christine if you’d like to volunteer.

If you didn’t get a bingo card for the new game beginning this week, it’s because you didn’t let me know you want to play.  There’s still time to get a card, just let me hear from you!

And on a final note, Ben Breaux asked me to convey his thanks to all who called, came, sent cards or rescued his bushhog.  His doctor told him to get rid of the walker, begin driving around town and resume normal activities.  We’re all happy that Ben is back to his normal, ornery self!
