The Fourth Object of Kiwanis: To
develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggres[B9]sive, and
serviceable citizenship. Kiwanis Education #56: Each club secretary annually receives the Kiwanis International Directory, listing every Kiwanis club in the world, its time and place of meeting, and its president and secretary. Much of this information also is available on-line at [N45] http://kiwanis.org/locator.html Each secretary also receives the Kiwanis International Supplies Catalog, which includes all Kiwanis-related supplies and merchandise available for sale to clubs and individuals. |

THIS
WEEK:
Charee Theriot, Principal of St. Martinville Primary was our guest speaker this week. Ms. Theriot shared[G51] with the members present some background of the setup of her school, which includes grades 2-5. She, as with other principals we’ve spoken to, has the needs of socks, shoes, underwear, etc. But she also explained that with additional outside attention – and not even tutoring, just attention, the children’s grades elevated. These kids need grand parenting at school (an observation made by Carol Lagarde). Wouldn’t it be great if some of the retired or non-working people would volunteer to go to the school and ‘grandparent’ different children? Think about it – perhaps as necessary as KRIS in ELC.
Larry Roy is gearing us up[B2] for Highway Cleanup. He is circulating a sign-up sheet for the April 16 event. Even if you cannot attend meetings, but would like to help, contact Larry to volunteer.
Elaine St. Julien announced that ‘Big Brothers/Big Sisters’ will be helping with our bike safety project.
The effects of the time change last weekend showed in the number of absentees at the meeting this week. Hopefully, by next Wednesday we will have gotten into the swing of things and can get back on track.
As we drew the bingo[B6] numbers last week and saw how many “O’s” were drawn (six of them), I just knew that someone would have yelled BINGO. Check your cards carefully and see if you are a winner. If you would like to check previous number, click here to go back to the index and look at the back issues of the bulletin. The game we are playing now began on February 23. Good Luck! |
