THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

"In life every choice changes the road you’re on …
and it would be too easy to end up going in the wrong direction."
~  paraphrased from a book Gerry read.  :-)

The First Object of Kiwanis:  To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.

Kiwanis Education #64:   The Kiwanis administrative year begins on October 1. Originally, clubs and districts operated on the calendar year. However, Kiwanis International officers were elected at the annual conventions in early summer and assumed office immediately or, beginning in 1950, on August 1. This led to many problems of budgeting, programming, and leadership. For example, each International President worked with two sets of district governors and club presidents, and vice versa. Finally, in 1969 the administrative year beginning October 1 was adopted for all levels of Kiwanis organization.

THIS WEEK:

Ladies and Gentlemen!  We have two bingos this week.  Doug Melancon and Elaine St. Julien.  Their names, along with all the previous winners, will be placed in a drawing for a super prize at the end of this fiscal year!  In the meantime, they will have the opportunity to draw for a small prize out of the sack of stuff I have.  In honor of their bingos, we will not have numbers posted this week.  Next week we will send out bingo cards.  If you did not get a bingo card and are interested in participating in the bingo games, please let me know:
gerryleblanc5@aol.com or 394-9396.

The meeting this week was an evening meeting!  And this is what I was told happened at the meeting:

Bike Safety Workshop is this Saturday morning – please volunteer to help if you can.  The St. Martinville Rotary Club is donating two bicycles (boy and girl) for the workshop.  Several ideas as to how the bikes will be given were discussed and Margaret will contact Rotary to see how this will happen.

Next Wednesday the meeting will be dedicated to the Pepper Festival.  If you have helped with a certain aspect of the festival in the past, we will need your invaluable feedback for this year, and hopefully your assistance.  Doug and Gerry will need all the help they can get to make our 20th a huge success!

Larry Roy announced that Dr. Fournet Day is scheduled for July – the date will be either the 21st or the 22nd.  Discussion was held about the different assignments for this project.

In order for you to search your heart and see if this is something you’d like to volunteer for, I want to let everyone know early that at the end of this fiscal year September 30), I will be giving up my position as one of the editors of your bulletin.  I have done this job joyfully and enthusiastically for 12 consecutive years.  I’d like to give someone else the opportunity to perform this unique service for our club. -Gerry
