THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
Do not condemn the [I-30]judgment of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong. ~ Dandemis

The Third Object of Kiwanis: To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Education #49:  The Kiwanis Legion of Honor recognizes Kiwanians who have been members for 25 years and longer (membership need not be continuous or in the same club). Special lapel pins indicating Legion of Honor membership at five-year intervals are available from the Kiwanis International Supplies Department and should be presented to qualified members on the appropriate anniversaries. Since the Legion of Honor began, more than 780 Kiwanians have been recognized for 60 years, 170 for 65 years, 20 for 70 years, and three for 75 years.

THIS WEEK:

Apologies to those who ventured out last Wednesday night for the Kiwanis meeting and had not gotten the message that the meeting [N-39]was cancelled.

This week VP Doug was in charge of the meeting – testing the waters as it were – in the absence of President Margaret Richard.  I must say, he’s very[B-14] calm and collected in the face of so much chatter and banter.  I think he will be a very composed President.  Do predictions count?  Anyway, had a good meeting this morning and talked about lots of things, some of which had to do with Kiwanis.

The Super Bowl Party was very nice – thanks to social director Dennis and his sidekick (beer obtainer), Dan.  Good fun, good food and good company!  We had several guests (aka prospective members) in attendance:  John and Avis Gutekunst, Gerard and Karen Beyt, Ed Durand and Marilyn deMahy (with husband, Paul).

Your Kiwanis club will be well represented at the Mid Winter Conference with the following people in attendance:  Lt. Governor Christine Berard, President Margaret Richard and husband Paul, Treasurer Peggy Hardy, members Carol, Dennis and Gerry.  There will be nominations for Lt. Gov. for 2012-13 at Mid Winter.  If you’d like to be considered, please call Christine at 394-5264.

You will also be represented at the Talent Contest by the ever popular, bikini clad Bathing Beauties performing their Las Vegas-style synchronized swimming routine.  You may want to check U-tube by Saturday morning.  I’m sure this will have gone viral by then.

Just checking, raise your hand if you’re playing bingo.  How many of you have a wait on your bingo card?  Should I put more numbers in the bulletin each week?[G-50]  I have great prizes piling up and plan on getting more at the conference this weekend.  So play bingo and win!  (this is a paid political advertisement and has been approved by one of the editors)
