THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters,
compared to what lies within us. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Third Object of Kiwanis:  To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Education #70:  Aktion clubs are Kiwanis international’s newest sponsored program, officially adopted in 2000.  Aktion club is a service club for youth and adults with disabilities, who elect officers, raise funds, and choose and conduct community-service projects with guidance from their Kiwanis sponsors. More than 300 Aktion clubs are now providing their members with leadership and service opportunities.

THIS WEEK:

B-I-N-G-O!!!!  Ben Breaux called and let me know that his bingo card was a winner.  Dolores Bourda also won again (3rd time).  Bingo is now officially ended.  Those people who have won a weekly bingo will be placed in a drawing for a prize to be awarded at the Installation Banquet.

Again, I’m pleading with you guys for someone to step up to the plate and help out with the bulletin.  This is what my part of the bulletin consists of:  1) attend the meetings or get someone to tell you what happened at a meeting you miss, 2) write the “this week” part of the bulletin which consists of what happened that week, what’s coming up in the weeks to come, and announcements that someone may ask you to put in the bulletin, and 3) keep the calendar of events updated.  After writing, I email the bulletin to Marti and Peggy and they mail and post online.  The only other thing I do is fax 3 bulletins to a few people.

Next week, our meeting is at Clambeaugh’s Restaurant. It’s an evening meeting at 6:00 p.m.  It’s a BIG DEAL!!!  Induction of new members,  Gov. Greg Beard in attendance, possibly Gov. Elect Robert Benoit, Regional Trustee Claudia Hall, and members of other Kiwanis clubs in our area.  The cost of the meal is $15 per person.  We are very excited to support our President Margaret  since she has worked so diligently to sign up so many new Kiwanians during her term of office.  Give that woman an challenge and watch her fly!!

We had a Pepper Festival committee meeting also this week.  I will report later on what went on.
