THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
  If nothing ever changed,
     there would be no butterflies.
                                —Author Unknown

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis: To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #28: The creation of districts is authorized by Section VI of the International Constitution. The International Board creates and supervises districts and establishes their boundaries. The district governor is the chief executive officer of a district and also an officer of Kiwanis International. Districts are organized into divisions, and the chief executive of each division is the lieutenant governor.

THIS WEEK:

We had a great meeting this week!
The gamblers among us were waiting with bated breath to see if Dennis would pull out the red marble from among the three yellow marbles left in the bag.  Let’s just say that there are now 2 yellow marbles left in the bag for us gamblers to drool over.  We will not have lottery at the banquet, so the gamblers will have to suffice with silent auction tension next week.

Which segues nicely into talk about Installation Banquet.  Everyone should have received invite and tickets in the mail by now.  Please know that your spouse, significant other, friend, sibling (whomever you wish to bring) is invited to purchase a ticket and come with you.  If you need more tickets, contact Gerry. We will have silent auction (do you have any items to submit for bid?), cash bar (ice cold beer and wine for sale), wonderful fellowship, and the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our club leaders during this year.  And also we will congratulate and encourage our new slate of officers at this time.  Lt. Governor Christine Berard will induct the officers and board members.  Audrey Allen a/k/a Clambeaugh’s will again provide a delicious meal for us.  You may pay for your tickets at the door.  Peggy Hardy will be collecting your monies.  And Leslie Thibodeaux will be collecting your auction items.  We look forward to an evening of fun and fellowship with the nicest people we know – our fellow Kiwanians!

Our guest speaker this week was Elmer Landry, President of Teche Bank, who spoke to us about the dictionary project in which we are participating with St. Martinville Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club de Pont Breaux.  Elmer gave us information about how the project initiated with the Rotary Club and how it evolved into a joint effort among the three St. Martin Parish organizations.  Thanks to everyone who made our group so lively this morning, I think Mr. Landry may join our club.

Also, at the Installation Banquet, be prepared to volunteer for Highway Cleanup on October 9 and also for your various roles at the Pepper Festival. Tee shirt orders will also be taken at that time.
