THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

   The brightest blaze of intelligence
is of less value than the smallest spark of charity.

The First Object of Kiwanis:   To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

THIS WEEK:

The speaker phase of the evening meeting (which begins at 6:00 p.m. as opposed to Board meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m.) was devoted to the Pepper Festival.  Before that aspect of the meeting took place, new member Doug Melancon introduced his guest – his wife, Becky Melancon.  Great to have you – you’re welcome to attend all of the meetings!   Discussion was held and signup sheet was presented for Every Child a Swimmer.  If you are not able to participate in this project due to other commitments, there are things you could pick up in the evening for the project.  Water, cookies, oranges, to name a few items.  If you can help with these things, call Christine at 394-5264.

Speaking of Christine, we forget to mention that as our incoming Lt. Gov. she will be in training for her position this weekend so keep her in your thoughts.  It is very important for us to support the people who are willing to lead our great organization, those who devote their time, money and talent!  Thanks, Christine, for being willing, ready and able.

And speaking of lists, President Larry passed around a list of dates that someone could volunteer to get a speaker for a meeting.  Please contact Larry if you have someone you wish to submit for speaker at a meeting.

In the Festival committee phase of our meeting, Steve and Christine presented some graphics that have been submitted for our tee shirt design.  The deadline for submitting artwork for the tee shirts and a limited edition poster has been extended two weeks.  If you have ideas or know someone who is talented in that area, share this with them.
