THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

May you have the hindsight to know where you’ve been,
the foresight to know where you are going,
and the insight to know when you’ve gone too far.

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:    To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #10:   Club delegates approved in principle the establishment of Kiwanis districts at the Providence, Rhode Island, convention in 1918. The purpose of Kiwanis districts is to promote communication and interchange between clubs and assist in carrying out the administrative responsibilities of Kiwanis International. Most of the original 29 districts were organized by the end of that year.

THIS WEEK:  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

“When you’re tired, say you’re tired.”  I’m tired!!!  I know personally as I get older, each time change takes me longer and longer to get adjusted.

Mr. Gerald Hebert, Director of Athletic Development at ULL, was our guest speaker this week.  Thanks to Elaine for arranging Mr. Hebert.  Based on what we heard and what we saw – I think ULL made the right choice in getting Mr. Hebert for this job!   We had special guests at this meeting also – Elaine’s sister, Jeanette Narcisse; Jean’s husband, Ben Potier; and almost member, Doug Melancon.

At this writing, Doug Melancon and Home School Key Club Advisor, Donna Andrepont, were approved for membership into our club.  Congrats to both and we most certainly welcome you both!

Acadiana Home School Key Club Charter Ceremony meeting will be held at the Southside Public Library in Lafayette on March 30 at 3:30 p.m.  This is a big deal!  This is the first Home School Key Club in our District and only the eleventh one in all of Kiwanis International.  Really big deal!  Please try to come out and support this newest addition to our Kiwanis Family!

Thanks to all who take the time out of their schedules to participate in our ongoing KRIS project at ELC.  Those who read to the kids have such a sense of accomplishment when the kids begin to read better and struggle less.  “… one child and one community at a time.”
