THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

It is better to do a kindness near home
than go far away to burn incense.
                        — Chinese Proverb

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:    To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #9:   The first Kiwanis headquarters, a two-room office, was opened in Chicago in 1918. Kiwanis continued to rent larger and larger offices in the “Windy City” until 1957, when the first Kiwanis International building was dedicated. This building served Kiwanis for 25 years but was eventually outgrown. In 1982 the sale of this valuable property allowed construction of a larger building in Indianapolis. a site with lower costs and greater convenience than downtown Chicago.

THIS WEEK:
Larry is thanking everyone who has given hours for Kiwanis projects each and every week.  He also announced the date of the Spring Highway Cleanup as April 10 at 8:00 a.m.

Please be advised that the chartering ceremony of our Acadiana Home School Key Club will be held on March 30 at the Lafayette Southside Library.  I’d appreciate if some of our sponsoring Kiwanians could attend this special occasion.

Save the date:  Every Child a Swimmer will be held on May 20, 21, 24, 25 and 26.  Please make plans to assist if you can.

We toured the Clerk of Court’s new facility and were given a great narrative of each area and its function by Chief Deputy Clerk, Becky Patin.

Next week our guest speaker will be Gerald Hebert of UL, marketing and athletics coordinator.  Please make every effort to attend.

Congrats to Kiwanian, Steve Comeaux, on the birth of a granddaughter, Hayden Marie Comeaux, weighing 6 lbs, 8 oz.  Everyone doing well, even the grandpaw!

(Peggy said she’s leaving up the Saints stuff until someone says to take it down.)
