THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

A good listener is not only popular everywhere,
but after a while he gets to know something.
                                – Wilson  Mizner

The Fifth Object of Kiwanis:     To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.

Kiwanis Education #15:   Until 1962, Kiwanis clubs were limited to the United States and Canada. But club delegates to the 1961 convention in Toronto approved the extension of Kiwanis to the rest of the world. In April 1962, the Kiwanis Club of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, became the first club to be organized outside the two founding nations. Today, Kiwanis clubs are active in more than 70 nations and geographic areas.

THIS WEEK:
Last Saturday was the Bike Safety Workshop at the St. Martinville Library.  Thanks to Margot for spearheading this most worthwhile project and to those Kiwanians who assisted!

Our guest speaker this week was Kiwanian/new Library Director, Charlar Brew.  Charlar gave us some information about the library and encouraged everyone to join the Friends of the Library.  She is also hoping that the community (especially the Kiwanis community) will become more involved in the outreach programs of the library.  She welcomes all suggestions and hopes to bring us more information about library technology in the near future.

Margaret Richard brought a prospective member/guest with her to the meeting:  Shelly Robertson.  We look forward to seeing Shelly again real soon.

The Kiwanis Club of Eunice is hosting its First Campus Luncheon at LSU Eunice on July 1 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. and our club is invited to join them.  Margaret Richard has indicated a desire to attend.  For those who wish to attend, the deadline for confirming your participation is June 25. Cost of the meal is $12 per person.  SOUNDS LIKE A ROAD TRIP!!!!

Our fearless leader and his lovely wife are going on vacation.  While he is gone, President-Elect Margaret Richard will get used to the mantle of authority and conduct the Kiwanis meetings for us.  Please come out to a meeting and support Margaret as she tries this hat on for size!

Gerry (MOI) will be in charge of program next meeting.  I promise there will be no crafts involved but there will be entertainment (but I’m not singing).
