THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service and character. –William Arthur Ward

The Fourth Object of Kiwanis:     To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

Kiwanis Education #16:   The Kiwanis International Board of Trustees has 20 members including the Executive director. These include the President, Immediate Past President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Treasurer, and 14 Trustees. The officers serve for one-year terms, and each year a group of Trustees are elected to three-year terms. An additional nonvoting officer, the International Executive Director, is appointed by the Board and is the only salaried officer.

THIS WEEK:

Larry is back from his trip abroad and will be the guest speaker next week and will entertain/educate us with tales from his recent trip to Italy.

Margaret brought her granddaughter, Megan to the meeting.  I think there is a future Key Club member there.

The club received a thank you for our $634 donation to the Haiti Mission.  Our $$$ will be spent on the Goat Project.

Christine and Steve reported on the progress of the Pepper Festival.  They gave status reports on the Pepper Festival, including jam session, queen’s pageant, and tee-shirt design.

Lt. Gov.-Elect for Division 17, Christine reminded members of the club leadership training on July 17 at the Fire Training Center in Lafayette.  The cost is $10 per person to defray meal expenses.  Everyone is invited to attend.  I am encouraging people from our club to attend.  All of us will benefit from the wealth of information there will be offered that day.  And our club will reimburse your $10 fee.  But in order for them to prepare the food, please tell Christine by the 15th if you’re able to attend.  If you don’t get your food order in, you might have to bring a brown bag lunch. HA!

If you are off for the summer, come and join us on Wednesdays @ 7 a.m.  We would love to have you.
