THIS WEEK:
Our meeting this week was an evening meeting and the speaker time was
allotted to Pepper Festival stuff.
Charlar Brew thanked the
Kiwanians for our support of the La. Decentralized Arts Funding Grant
Program awarded to the St. Martin Parish Library. She also thanked us for
our involvement in the annual Bike Safety Workshop and stated that Breaux
Bridge expressed an interest in having a clinic there also.
Larry suggested that we
treat active members to breakfast or something with administrative funds.
Discussion followed but people seemed to be willing for a breakfast treat
based on quarterly attendance and service hours.
Our club is looking for an
ongoing service project that would change the lives of children and all
members can get involved in. Larry would welcome all suggestions.
It may seem like far away,
but our new slate of officers will take the reins beginning on October 1.
Next week, Christine will be sworn in as Lt. Gov. for Division 17. And
our installation banquet will be at the end of September or the beginning
of October.
Steve gave members sample
tee shirts to look at with the pepper festival logo. Gator Girls and
dance teams were also discussed. He also said that Dan is going to get
the beer license in Baton Rouge next week. There seems to be real interest
in the jam sessions for music. Jean reported on port-o-lets, coke booth,
bandstand and sponsors. She also asked if anyone knows of new businesses
that she can contact to be pepper pals or such, please let her know.
Gerry reported that the new craft booth application form was completed,
sent to Marti to be put on our website and that she had emailed apps. to
those people who had inquired online. |
