THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

If a man loses his reverence for any part of life,
he will lose his reverence for all of life.
                 —Albert Schweitzer.

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:    To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #12: The Kiwanis motto, “We Build,” was adopted in 1920.  It was proposed by Roe Fulkerson, first editor of the Kiwanis Magazine, who later said, “God inspired me to write those two words-We Build. I am prouder of them than any other accomplishment in my life.”

THIS WEEK:

Evening meeting/Pepper Festival Committee meeting:
At the meeting this week Larry brought up the following items:

Suzanne deMahy is asking to switch months for speaker getter.  If you’re able to switch or have an idea for a speaker, contact Larry.

We are participating in SKIP A MEAL this month by contributing to the heart jar for this purpose throughout April.

Thanked all who have given primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.  (First Object of Kiwanis)

Ben Breaux reported on the proposed brunch for Kiwanis Family day.  He contacted Audrey who is able to provide the food for this project.  A possible date is being discussed.

Pepper Festival Committee meeting was conducted by Steve and Christine.  Discussion was held concerning various bands, the D. J. and the need for an MC for the Pepper Eating Contest.  Tee shirt submissions will be accepted until May 1, so if you have any ideas for a tee shirt design, please let Christine or Steve know about it.   The chairs asked that Marti change the information on our website to reflect the new chairs and their contact information.
