THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Do a deed of simple kindness;
           though its end you may not see.
              It may reach, like widening ripples, even to eternity.

The Fourth Object of Kiwanis:  To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

Kiwanis Education #49 :  The Kiwanis Legion of Honor recognizes Kiwanians who have been members for 25 years and longer (membership need not be continuous or in the same club). Special lapel pins indicating Legion of Honor membership at five-year intervals are available from the Kiwanis International Supplies Department and should be presented to qualified members on the appropriate anniversaries. Since the Legion of Honor began, more than 780 Kiwanians have been recognized for 60 years, 170 for 65 years, 20 for 70 years, and three for 75 years.

THIS WEEK:

Short bulletin this week.  News reporter is heading out the door for Every Child A Swimmer.  If you have a chance, please come by the pool to see the excited faces of the children and the red faces of the volunteers!  Thanks to all who are assisting with this great project!

Congrats to our new slate of officers and directors!  If you check last week’s bulletin, you’ll see their names.  Otherwise, I will list them next week.

Jessica Landry, Principal at Early Learning Center (ELC) and Sheila Morrison, teacher, were our guest speakers this week compliments of Larry Roy.  They explained more fully how important our developing project (KRIS) will be to the kids at ELC.  In case you’re not aware, KRIS means "Kiwanians Reading In Schools."

Have a great weekend and hope to see you at the pool!

Speedy recovery to Kiwanian Leslie Thibodeaux who had knee replacement and is doing fine and to Kiwanian Kevin Dugas’ father, J. C. Dugas, who had surgery this week for non-malignant brain tumor and is doing well also.  Please keep all of the sick and recovering in your prayers!

Remember: We have a lot of fish to fry... in Kiwanis!
