THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Assumptions
          are the termites of relationships.
                    --Henry Winkler

The Second Object of Kiwanis:  To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

Kiwanis Education #53 :   Any member is entitled to receive a perfect attendance tab for each period of 12 consecutive months during which the member achieved a perfect attendance record. The 12-month period does not need to coincide with the calendar year or Kiwanis administrative year. Neither Kiwanis International nor the districts maintain individual attendance records; this is a responsibility of the local club.

THIS WEEK

I just got notice that the District Bulletin is ready for viewing on the website.  Here is the link if you’d like to check it out.  http://la-ms-tn.kiwanisone.org/Files/Districts/3733/Documents/June-July%202009.pdf .

Although our guest speaker was a no show this week, we had a good meeting with fairly good attendance.  Plenty of brags going around this week and lots of news.  Congrats to Steve Comeaux on his new daughter-in-law and to Carol for having the wonderful surprise of her family showing up from Hawaii.  Also congrats to Kiwanian Jan Peacock of Starkville, MS who is retiring from Mississippi State University where she worked for 30+ years.  We were all invited to her retirement luncheon which happened today (Thursday).  Now, perhaps we’ll see more of our long distance Kiwanian.

Peggy Hardy will preside over next week’s morning meeting because your fearless leader, along with his wife, will be traveling to the International Convention in Nashville.  Ben and Jean Potier will also be going.  Jean and Dennis are delegates from our club and Gerry is delegate-at-large.

The district convention will be held in New Orleans at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on July 31-Aug. 2.  Our club has reserved two rooms with double beds for guys and gals who are interested in attending.  If anyone would like to get their own room, please call the Ritz Carlton and mention the Kiwanis Convention to get the rate of $129 per night.  Our block of rooms expires on June 29 so hurry and make your reservations.

Early reservations for the 2010 district convention at sea will soon expire.  If you are interested in attending, please go to the website www.lamisstenn.org to find out all the details.

Please mark your calendar for our Kiwanis Barbeque to be held on July 26 at Ricky and Leslie Thibodeaux’s house.  Details will follow.

Remember: We have a lot of fish to fry... in Kiwanis!
