THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

A people that values its privileges
above its principles soon loses both.
                --Dwight D. Eisenhower

The Fifth Object of Kiwanis:  To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.

Kiwanis Education #57 : Kiwanis is not a “professional classification” organization. Any number of members from a particular business or profession can belong to a Kiwanis club. Of course, each club should strive to represent a broad spectrum of its community.

THIS WEEK

If you missed the meeting this week, you missed an awesome presentation by Parish President and a tour of the temporary court facility at 307 Church St.  I think the presenters had a difficult time with the audience because the trip down memory lane for most of the group far exceeded their desire to see the new digs for the court.  Be that as it may, we all enjoyed the meeting very much.

This weekend is our Kiwanis BBQ Social/Recruitment party at Leslie and Ricky Thibodeaux’s home off of Cemetery Hwy.  It will also be an induction ceremony for our newest members if they are able to attend.  Check the calendar of events for the address in case you want to get directions off the internet.  And if you have not had contact either by phone or electronic messaging from Carol or Gerry, please call 380-4300 to let us know yea or nay about the party on Sunday.

Look around at the people you come in contact with on a regular basis.  Ask one of those people to join you in the best service organization in the world.  And introduce them to your friends in Kiwanis by bringing them to the BBQ on Sunday.  $5 a head is the cost.  Please bring your own Adult Beverages.

Next week’s meeting will be orientation – and at the hectic pace we continue to keep – we all need re-orienting every once in a while.  Please come and join us.  It takes 3 weeks to create a habit.  Make Kiwanis a Habit!

Tonight (Thursday) at 6:00 p.m. is the Pepper Festival Committee meeting at Dennis and Gerry’s home.  321 Broussard Dr.  Go ahead and park on the grass (Dennis said it’s okay!).  I’m cooking, guys.  It’s Italian Night at the meeting!

Remember: We have a lot of fish to fry... in Kiwanis!
