THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

No one can make you
         feel inferior without your consent.
               –Eleanor Roosevelt

The First Object of Kiwanis:  To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.

Kiwanis Education #59 : The European Federation of Kiwanis International is composed of the eight districts and nondistricted areas of Europe: the Iceland-Faroes, Norden, Netherlands, Belgium-Luxemburg, France-Monaco, Switzerland-Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Italy districts, and areas such as the Iberian peninsula and eastern Europe. The European Federation has more than 1,000 clubs and stages an annual convention to elect federation officers and promote Kiwanis goals and training.

THIS WEEK

Please be aware that our meetings are going to be at 307 Church Street (the St. Martin Court Building) for the next 3 weeks.  We are sorry for the inconvenience but auditors have taken over our meeting room at the Sheriff’s office.

Terry Dupuy was our guest speaker this week.  He is the owner of the Teche Theater in St. Martinville and was able to tell us about his plans for the building and the upcoming events he has planned.

Sprinky Durand will be our guest speaker next week and his topic will be “Willie Francis Must Die” which is the title of his documentary about the infamous case in St. Martinville.  Sprinky has to leave at 8:00 so we will begin the speaker portion of the meeting at 7:15 with the other portion of our meeting following his talk.

I am still looking for someone to chair the crafts booths for the Pepper Festival.  I would appreciate if someone could take this on.  If you’re interested, please call Gerry at 380-4300.  Thanks!

School is beginning and our sponsored youth programs will be kicking off also.  Again this year, we will try to initiate the BUG program at St. Martin Primary, along with the cooperation of the SMSH Key Club.  If you’d like to be a part of this new program at St. Martin Primary, please contact Dennis to volunteer.

I’ll try to print a report on the board meeting as soon as I get more information as to what went on at that meeting.

Remember: We have a lot of fish to fry... in Kiwanis!
