THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Laughter is the shortest distance
            between two people.
                            Victor Borge

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #45 :   Eliminating iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) is the objective of Kiwanis International’s historic Worldwide Service Project. The easiest way to prevent IDD is by ionization of salt, which has eliminated IDD in most developed countries. The goal of the Worldwide Service Project is to raise USS75 million to finally eliminate IDD by salt ionization and public education in all the remaining at-risk areas of the world.

THIS WEEK:
Happy Easter!  I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday.
*Please make note of the date of our annual meeting and election of officers (May 13.)  Carol Lagarde and her committee of directors are hard at work contacting people.  If you would like to take a leadership role in our club, please contact Carol or any of the directors to put your name in the hat.

Thank you, Patsy Breaux, for the very informative program on Alzheimer’s Disease.  The program generated a lot of discussion and questions for Patsy.  Thank you, President Dennis, for setting up this program.

Next week our guest speaker will be Lt. Troy Dupuis of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.  His topic will be the Sex Offender Registry.

Our guests this week included Steve Comeaux’s grandson, Kevin; Ben Breaux’s wife, Patsy; and prospective member, Cyndi deCarlo. Cyndi has filled out her paperwork and is waiting for the Board’s approval of her membership application.

One of the brags this week had to do with Cyndi and her husband, Terry Dupuy, who have dance classes at the Teche Theater every Tuesday night.  Dan Berard bragged about the fact that he and Christine attended this week and thoroughly enjoyed their class.  The classes are every week and cost $8 per class.  Patsy and Dan also commented that learning something new, such as a dance class, helps ward off Alzheimer’s.  Fun and beneficial!
